‘No losing streak’ Chungbuk Cheongju FC wins 1–0 away to Seongnam
Chungbuk Cheongju Professional Football Club (Chungbuk Cheongju FC) turned the tables once again with a win away to Seongnam FC (Seongnam).
The Chungbuk Cheongju FC earned three points with a 1–0 victory over Seongnam in the 33rd round of the Hana OneQ K League 2 2023 at Tancheon Sports Complex 텍사스홀덤 at 1:30 p.m. on March 23.
After playing three games in a week, Chungbuk Cheongju FC started the game in a 3–4–3 formation. With George up front, Yang Ji-hoon and Jeong Min-woo manned the wings in place of the suspended Peter. Jang Hyuk-jin and Hong Won-jin filled the midfield, while Park Jin-sung and Kim Myung-soon guarded the sides. The back line consisted of Lee Jung-taek, Lee Hansam, and Kim Won-gyun, with Park Dae-hyun in goal.
Before the game, head coach Choi Yoon-gyeom said, “I was more disappointed because the content of the last game was fine, and it’s hollow to have our unbeaten streak broken.” “As the unbeaten streak continues, it is encouraging to see that the interest in the club has increased, with the mayor of Cheongju visiting the stadium and more than 2,000 spectators visiting on weekdays.”
Chungbuk Cheongju FC looked to be in trouble when Kim Won-gyun went down with an injury in the second minute of the first half, but Yang Ji-hoon slotted home a ball that bounced off the defense in the 18th minute from a free kick. Chungbuk Cheongju FC held off Seongnam’s attack for the equalizer, and the game ended 1–0 without conceding a goal.
After the match, coach Choi Yoon-gyeom said, “I think it’s okay to be greedy for the playoffs based on the result of today’s match,” and added, “We will now look up rather than down,” showing confidence in the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Chungbuk Cheongju FC will host Bucheon FC on October 1, looking to continue their winning streak. The match will be held in conjunction with the Chungbuk Provincial Association, and fans will be treated to a variety of events, including a halftime celebration by trot singer Yang Ji-won and a raffle.
