As promised in last week’s article, here is my first tip on building your own brand.

To be able to create and develop your online personal brand, you first need to understand what that brand is.

You need to focus on what differentiates you and for that you must start by asking yourself these 3 questions:

What strengths do I possess?

It’s important to take the time to identify your strengths. Don’t be modest. Your strengths could include: Experience with a certain software, organizing events, translating from Mandarin, problem solving or negotiation. If you don’t believe you have strengths, then ask someone you trust, you might be surprised.

What motivates me and drives me?

Motivation is what gets you excited when you think about your work. It’s all in the details like: Developing innovative ideas, coaching others and what gets you up in the morning or on weekends.

Why do these aspects make me unique and authentic?

This is your essence, the things that people remember about you, your personality and the experience of working with you.

Make a list and sort it by importance. It’s the first and most important step in building a personal brand.

Next week, we will cover Tip 2, “Passion Fuels From The Inside”
