This week’s tip is on how to show your value. This is the third tip in the series — How To Build Your Personal Brand.

There are many ways to prove your value and worth to an employer. It is common for many people to downplay their previous achievements because they don’t want to be seen as showing off. However, these achievements are things you should be proud of because they are what can make you stand out from the crowd.

You firstly need to ask yourself a few questions to figure out how to do so.

1. What are your key accomplishments?

Remember the things you accomplished beyond your usual job duties. These ‘accomplishments’ could be anything between resolving an issue with an upset customer, to achieving one million dollars in sales within one year.

2. How do your experiences help you stand out?

Depending on your experience, you can acquire different skills, like communication, teamwork, negotiation and persuasion, ability to work under pressure. Make a list and don’t be afraid to show them off. Your experience gives you value in front of potential clients or employers.

3. How do your accomplishments and past experiences affect your reputation?

Your accomplishments and experiences are what you’re known for and how people experience you. They affect your reputation directly and a good reputation is worth a lot.

Once you have thought about what your value is, you need to think how you can show this to those around you. Your value should create a memorable impression in the minds of those you interact with and it can then open doors to new opportunities. Value is the foundation of your reputation and your personal brand.
