Steve, are you unaware of the covert propaganda campaign wages by the biotech and agrochemical industries? Have you read the 177 page document attached to Eric Lipton’s Sept 15, 2015 article in the NYT? If you have then you’d know that industry operatives do not always announce themselves as such and therefore your statement is incorrect. There is in fact a strategy of appearing as independent researchers or “Science Moms” or whatever else. There is a HUGE smear and propaganda campaign going on covertly, so its really a lot of pot/kettle or projection in the accusations being made by these hacks like Stephan N and Kevin Folta. I mean really, they are the hacks working for the industry. At least the grad student is a grad student and an activist, not a pro-industry propagandist. Sure, it’s a war of ideas and perceptions but the industry is the dirtiest party here. People are free to be activists. It’s alright. People have beliefs and can state them. But when you state some biased interpretation of science as if you’re independent then you are absolutely violating trust.
