How to Live to Be 200!

Aoa! i’m not discussing the topic given above, but actually i want to discuss about that person who explain the title above in 20th century. That is Stephen Leacock (famous Canadian political scientist, historian and humourist). But i know him only because of his funny writings which are very famous in his time and even today.I just read his 2 essays both were in my textbooks. But both express his great sense of humor. These were:

My Financial Career :

It was about a person, who for the first time visit to the bank. He had never experience to open a bank account. That is why he confused in a bank.Who was quite lost in the bank all the time. He was quite nervous and upset when he entered the bank. He was very much afraid of the bank and its clerks. He committed blunder after blunder.

It is generally much more interesting to hear someone tell his own story than to hear him tell someone else’s story. And i really like this story.

How to live to be 200:

How To Be To Live 200 by Stephen Leacock is a satirically humorous essay and the writer has used the technique of exaggeration for that. The title itself is greatly an exaggeration of facts. Even the man who gets a long, long life to live today does not have a life of 200 years. Those a few persons who get an age above 100 are very rarely to be found in any country. Even the average age in U.S.A (said to be the highest average age is almost a little above 70). So the writer has used exaggeration in the use of figure 200 in title.

Here, the purpose of the writer is to correct the follies especially young men of today who leave no stone unturned to keep them fit and live long. Its so funny that you can’t even imagine. In it, he give some funny healthy tips for being healthy.

Allah Hafiz!
