‘’Why do You Write Saher?’’

What do you write about?

How do you craft your writing?

How do you manage to spare time for writing?

What’s your goal?

I listen to these questions and question myself, Why?

I write because I want to free my soul from all the worries, pains, burdens and aches. I write because these worries, pains, burdens and aches turn into a symphony, music when transferred on a page.

I write because some unfulfilled wishes moving in front of my eyes inspire me to dream and work hard.

I write because it gives me the freedom to outburst my secret dark truths and readers considering it fiction may not judge me.

I write because the words can take me to the shallow hollow places where I can let my spirit fly free in pathless forests.

I write because my anger, my passion, my fears, my hopes, my dreams, my suspicions, my truths, my lies, my past, my present, my future can find a home in one single page.

I write to breathe while letting my brain enjoy a pin drop silence and not think of troubling future thoughts.

I write to capture, see and seize life and if you are blessed with this power, why shouldn’t you?

I write about things which my soul denies carrying around and that need to be spoken loudly. In public, with a roar. And when I try to write about politics, nationalism or religion my pen denies as it seems like the cheapest form of entertainment.

I write about life and how it is evolving gradually. I write about this gradual change. I write about the meaninglessness of this change.

I write about the problems which limit the proximity of spreading love and peace in this world.

I write about what I think is under the skin, the real, the truth.

I write about countries, cities, beaches, mountains, people, books who have the power to stir my soul or torment my consciousness.

I write about the pains that make old men, young girls, innocent babies walk very slowly.

I write about the beauty that people of courage possess. The ones who have nothing to lose and the sky isn’t their limit to reach.

I never try to use embellished words to craft my writing. Infect I never reread my words as it’s like looking in the mirror and accepting the truth following the helplessness towards that issue. To be honest, if I ever read my piece of writing again, it doesn’t even make sense to me. I just let the hanging words fall down on a paper, a screen whenever-they-want-me-to.

And sometimes, I let these words take comfort in a soliloquy. Then, if they insist. I pour them on paper.

Nowadays, with Omar being three months old, it’s hard but again, you gotta breathe. To stay alive, we try to do whatever it takes. Don’t we? Giving my best effort, I manage to write while he is having 10 minutes nap. In fact, I already took 2 gaps to attend him and feed him. Sometimes, I feel daunted by all the responsibilities on my shoulders nut I try to divide attention justly. The steps are as following:

  1. My kin comes first.
  2. Then, my duties.
  3. Obligations.
  4. Self.

For some, the cycle is another way around and frankly my friends tell me that they have a happier life. Maybe, someday I will follow their advice and live a part of my life like them.

My goal is not to be recognized and appreciated. Neither is it to earn money or get fame. My only motive is to make people hear what they look at and ignore and what they don’t want to be reminded of. It will take the bulk of my time, energy and zeal and of many more of my type to come.
