Talking about ancient Indian history, two important and powerful empires had important contribution. The Maurya Empire was the first to integrate all the Janapadas and Mahajanapadas of the subcontinent under one umbrella. With this a new system of governance was established, which served as the basis for the governance of later empires.

Introduction

After the Mauryan Empire, many small kingdoms emerged and also ended. Between 300 -700 AD a new phase of imperial rule began and paved the way for the establishment of kingdoms in many regions. During the same period, the Gupta Empire emerged as a great power, politically unifying a significant part of the Indian subcontinent. Although it was not as extensive as the Maurya Empire, it ruled a large part of northern India and some areas in the south were also under its influence. After centuries of political disintegration, the Guptas formed an empire in 319 AD. Rakhi created political unity for more than a century from 335–455 AD. There is no unanimity among historians regarding the genealogy and early background of the Gupta Empire. But possibly early in life, he belonged to a zamindar family, which gained political power in the Magadha region and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
