The Yankee Candle pop-up shop in SoHo offered free candle personalization. I had an image of my favorite beach in Hawaii stamped on a Sun & Sand scented candle.

Nothing like an inner glow to help you beat out the cold!

Lanikai Beach is in the town of Kailua, on East Oahu. I’d heard about the beach from my Airbnb hosts, Cris and Jena, who have a place on the North Shore.

Kailua in Hawaiian means “two seas.” She described it as a hybrid between the North Shore (which is tranquil) and Waikiki (which is crazy). I’m so glad we went there. Lanikai is actually Jena’s favorite beach and is now mine, too.

Though I am far from my islands, my islands are never far from me. Our greatest loves are always within reach!

Any time I light this candle, I can think of Cris and Jena and remember our nice time Hawaii…
