INTRODUCTION

Hi everyone! My name is Sai Satvik and I am an undergraduate student. I’ve been working on UI/UX design for the past Few months. Here I show my case study on the makeover of the ZARA Shopping app.

OVERVIEW

ZARA logo (2019-Present)

The redesign of the ZARA Shopping app is the subject of this UX case study. The case study tries to solve current pain points and improve the app’s user experience by examining user research and feedback.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The ZARA app’s “minimalist” design is well-known. A major percentage of users yet think that the UI makes it challenging for them to shop or simply explore.

The goal of this work is to find usability problems and enhance the app’s user interface and user experience.

Role: UI/UX Designer
Scope: Primary/Secondary Research, Design Thinking, User Flow, Wireframing & Design Style-guide
Timeline: Around 1month
Tools: Figma, Photoshop

DESIGN PROCESS

Research Goals

  • Knowing the problems of users when they are using the ZARA app.
  • Knowing why users are concerned about the appearance of the ZARA app.

Research Questions

Some general questions will be asked to the respondent before the assignment begins. Here’s the question:

  • Are you familiar with the ZARA app?
  • Do you use website or app?
  • Do you feel ok while using ZARA app?
  • Do you think the ZARA app’s interface is satisfactory?
  • What frustrates you the most when using the app?

Design Thinking

Design thinking is an iterative approach to solves problems, prioritizing user understanding, challenging assumptions, and creating user-centered solutions with empathy and innovation.

Research

Secondary research in UI/UX refers to the process of collecting and analyzing existing data and information that has been previously gathered by other sources.

By looking at reviews of playstore Reviews, articles, case studies, etc, I found several problems, such as not being user-friendly and a very poor user interface.

Define

User Personas

I have created two personas based on user research, in which we know what the issue is for both of us and what we need to fix.

Wireframes

A wireframe is a basic visual representation of a website, app or software interface. I used Mid-Fidelity Design for the wireframe cause its typically involve more detailed representations of the layout, structure, and functionality of the product than low-fidelity design but with less detail and visual polish than high-fidelity designs.

Mid-Fidelity Wireframe

High Fidelity Design

However, the design it still quite inspired by the ZARA itself but I’m trying to make it more user-friendly.

COMPARISION

Prototype

With prototype, I can experiment with different layouts, features, and interactions to find the best solution for the user’s needs.

Testing

The final stage of design thinking is testing. It refers to the process of evaluating the user interface and user experience of a website, application, other digital product to identify any usability issues, user pain points, or other areas for improvement.

a. Usability Testing

After prototyping and connecting all the displays, it’s time to test the product with users. My goal is to evaluate new designs to users.

b. Task Given

These tasks involve creating an interactive and intuitive digital experience for users. The tasks can vary depending on the stage of the design process. Here is some tasks that I have made according to a scenario that has been created:

SUMMARY INSIGHT

The user successfully completes all tasks properly. From a scale of 1–5 all tasks are given a score of 4 out of 5.

Task 1 : 4/5

Task 2 : 4/5

WHAT I LEARNED

One of the things I learned during this portfolio-building process was how to discover a suitable answer from the user’s perspective so that their use of the product is both efficient and enjoyable.

This case study has a lot of room for improvement, so I would really welcome any helpful comments and ideas from everyone who took the time to read this article.

Thank you
