I agree with your approach but, to learn how JavaScript works, it is important to understand concepts like prototypal inheritance. After that, it’s OK to use the syntactic sugar version. Using “class” and “extends” from the beginning tends people to create unnecessary classes, specially for people who comes from OOP languages.
