First, absolutely great writing. I have to re-read this again later today.

Second, I am not entirely surprised by Milo’s fall.

But what upsets me the most is that he drew is popularity from educational institutions inviting him for debates (which got interrupted or in some cases turned violent).

The purpose of debate is to make the best argument to prove your point right and the other persons’ point wrong. A debate should be about knowledge, thought provoking, educational but not a troll. I can train a chimp to spew racist comments (via hand signals) but that doesn’t make him a great debater but just a troll.

It is an elitist way of thinking to invite a toxic personality, in a hope to defeat them with clever logic.
