Here in the red arrow is showing my starting point. After clicking on the starting point the new where you click the line will end up there. That is for straight selection. What about the curves type selection?

The yellow arrow is the starting point here. Then put the next point where the next paths you need to create and move the mouse while pressing the left button. Then put the next dot. In this way, you will be able to select any curve object.

For this operation click here and the created path will be visible.

After the creation of the path you also make to make selection. To perform this action, humbly click the right button and your object will become selected.
