The Ethical Dilemma with AI
The rise of AI has sparked a fume a discussion that oscillates to and fro between hope and fear. While a portion of AI experts aspire of a futuristic society with great positivity while the other side warns us of a dystopian society dominated by threatening AI. Here, I bring you the yin and yang of AI.
Let’s get to the dystopian concern first. This part of the futuristic AI has been swirling around for a long time and many expert have shown their apprehension towards. Movies, Series have been emphasizing darker side of AI which in the end is controlled by a “human”. The difference between reel and real is that, in reel we know we have a grasp over the evil force. Real life can be quite contradicting. If the reign of control slips from our grasp, future can be unrestricted. Understanding when to pull the trigger is going to be extremely important, a slight delay in it might just be enough to create a havoc.
Since the negative aspects of AI can be seen all over the internet, let me walk you through how real life AI can be quite different from what movies tell us.
AI for all we know can be the most trustworthy ally. Not getting too technical about how AI can find patterns, create synopsis and all, my main concern is how AI can be controlled. Implementing a trigger control and knowing when it is too much to flow with is something to ponder about.
The main problem with AI right now seems to be lack of transparency, i.e not knowing how actually AI does what it does. To most people AI is like the black box a magician uses where they put a thing and something else comes out, only the magician knows whats going on. Only if the magician could tell the truth behind it, magic would seem dumb. So is the case with AI, if people come to know with what goes inside is when people will finally realize it is not as frightening.
Morality, Emotion, Sense of Compassion, in general, emotion which is a major character which separates human and AI. Feeding these emotion into AI is a challenge both technically and ethically. Let me explain, technical feeding of such features is tough as AI engulfed by data. Data needs to have a value. Can emotions be quantified? No. various techniques might be used to symbolize emotions with numbers but the question is how accurate can they be. Also, hypothetically we somehow feed the emotion into AI or they magically somehow learn it, to what extend can emotions work. For example, An AI cop visions a crime i.e a red light violation and catches the culprit. Culprit here is in emergency to reach the hospital which will be far more easier for a human to grasp. In the case of AI understanding such cases, crimes will go extreme as loopholes will be implemented everywhere. And if AI chooses either 1 or 0, then the world will be too robotic to live in. How can we solve this? Studying the possibility of control mechanism or a superior always looking after the moral grounds. Anyhow be it human or AI, emotions is the tricky part.
In the vast tapestry of possibilities, the future of AI holds both the brush of destruction and the palette of progress.

If the reins of control slip from our grasp, like a wild stallion breaking free from its master, AI could become an unfettered force. It might unleash havoc, akin to a destructive tempest tearing through the fabric of our society. The emergence of superintelligent AI, surpassing human comprehension and heedless of our values, could lead to catastrophic scenarios. It could be similar to a Pandora’s box, releasing autonomous weapons capable of wreaking unprecedented havoc. The balance of power might tilt precariously, amplifying inequalities and eroding the very essence of our humanity.
But amidst the storm, there is also a ray of hope piercing through the darkness, illuminating a path towards a brighter future. Imagine a delicate flower blooming in a sunlit meadow, radiating beauty and promise. This symbolizes the transformative potential of AI. With responsible development and ethical frameworks, AI could be a powerful tool, a companion to human endeavor. It could be the artist’s brush that paints a masterpiece, the healer’s touch that mends the broken, and the scientist’s guide that unlocks the mysteries of the universe. AI has the potential to revolutionize healthcare, education, transportation, and countless other domains. It could enhance our lives, unraveling the threads of complex problems and weaving solutions with unparalleled precision and efficiency.
