This means that millions of Sri Lankans are actively using social media to connect with friends and family, share updates, and stay informed about the world around them. Ever wondered how long people spend scrolling through their favorite social platforms? On average, people spend 2 hours and 31 minutes of their daily routine on social media. Isn’t that interesting?

So, which platforms are the most popular worldwide? When it comes to favorites, WhatsApp takes the crown, followed closely by Instagram, Facebook, WeChat, and TikTok.
However, when it comes to actual usage Facebook takes the lead, followed by YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, and WeChat.

If you’re curious about the social media giants on a global scale, China, India, and the USA boast the highest number of social media users, followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Japan, the Philippines, and Pakistan. This ranking reflects the sheer population size of these countries, but it also suggests a strong social media culture within these regions.
