That’s What Ukrainian Resistance Actually Means
👉 They don’t tell you in the news what Ukrainian resistance actually means.
Ukraine indeed has the largest and the most powerful army in the world. The army of 40 million people. I’ll explain to you how Ukrainian society is functioning these days.
They don’t tell you in the news that bulletproof vests, radio sets, thermal imagers, drones, turnstiles and first aid kits have been sold out in European military stores — because we ordinary Ukrainians bought them all. Also used cars and vans.
My friends and former colleagues, along with thousands of other Ukrainians, micro-fundraise on social media, find suppliers abroad and get the stuff shipped to the frontline.
They don’t tell you that Ukrainian women now know the difference between the three types of plates for ballistic vests. Because they purchase them abroad and ship to Ukraine, or organise local production from scratch.
They don’t tell you in the news that Ukrainian businesses, from large enterprises to micro ventures like bars and fancy coffee shops, voluntarily send a share of their profits to the army, and make warm meals for the frontline troops and the people in need. That the bottom “support 🇺🇦 army” is now on every Ukrainian website.
They don’t tell you that the Ukrainian fashion industry makes military berets and warm clothes for Ukrainian soldiers. Before the war, they were dressing world celebrities.
They don’t tell you that Ukrainian Insta, TikTok and YouTube celebrities give their Teslas to volunteers that deliver supplies to the army and the people in need. They cook warm meals for our defenders and work 24/7 at humanitarian help warehouses and shelters for those fleeing the war.
We are strong. We are brave. We are amazing. We resist because we love our country a lot. Because there’s no other way we could do it.
Thank you to everyone who is genuinely interested in the war, who asks me a lot of questions, gets inspired and goes beyond news outlets.
Please continue supporting Ukraine! ❤️
This war is of a scale that has not been seen since WW2. It is not over, not for a second. There are many dark days ahead.
