Great timing! I just finished reading the Ancillary trilogy by Annie Leckie and soaking in video debates about gender and feminism. It has me thinking about what a “gender-less” world would look like (i.e. one where we recognise biological differences but where we treat all sexes the same). It wasn’t anywhere as nice as Leckie’s world, it was in fact quite terrifying to imagine what added layers of social control we would have to impose on ourselves to suppress these impulses of the brain…not to mention the form those impulses would take to find release.
