Hey, baseball moms and dads! As the season swings into full gear, it’s not just the athletes who need prepping; their little siblings in the stands need their own game plan too. Juggling snacks, boredom, and the inevitable “is it over yet?!?” can feel like a minor league of your own. I’ve got you though! After last season, I found what keeps our kids satisfied the WHOLE game! So below is a list I compiled a fail-safe list of essentials, snacks, and activities that will make attending games with the kids a breeze, not a strikeout.

Packing the Perfect Baseball Bag: Beyond the Basics

Everyone knows to bring waters and cash, but what about when you’re also toting a toddler or entertaining a restless sibling who just wants to go back home or cry because we aren’t at a playground? Here’s my idea on what every baseball mom needs to pack to ensure a smooth and enjoyable game day for the little fans. And let’s be honest, we’re happy there are snacks there too for us LOL!

Essentials

  • Comfort Items: A small blanket and travel pillow can transform hard bleachers into cozy seats. Bonus points if you can remember chairs for everyone and sit in a grassy spot.
  • Change of Clothes: Accidents happen! A quick change can save the day. I always keep packed extra summer clothes, warm clothes, and jackets!
  • Wet Wipes and Hand Sanitizer: For sticky hands and accidental spills. When they finish eating those Oreos and need the new Dalmatian spots wiped off, you're covered! When you have to make the dreaded walk to the porta-potty, you have hand sanitizer to save the day!
  • Trash Bags: Keep your area clean with minimal effort. I keep several Walmart bags stored in our bag so that way we have trash bags right there, if clothes need to be changed we have bags for that, and simply anything else that can come up is covered!
  • For the girls: hair ties! little girls lose hair ties constantly. Put a pile of them on a snap ring and throw it in the bag! Your kid is now covered and you can help other mommas out too!
  • Sunscreen and Hats: Protect from long hours under the sun.
  • Bug Spray: Evening games can bring out the mosquitoes. Especially if you are near water like we are!
  • First Aid Kit: For those little scrapes or unexpected headaches.
  • UMBRELLAS!!! We can’t always run to the car, pack extra umbrellas! It may rain, but we still have to play! Plus, kids think they are cool little homes to lay on the ground to play in when they have them open for shade, not rain.

Entertainment Pack

Kids need help being entertained and small voices. We can’t bring toys that make noise and have them screaming. Plus if you are like us, screens are a no-go when we are out. You will notice I don’t mention balls on this list. We are bust enough dodging foul balls, who wants to dodge toddler balls as well?? So here are the toys I pack for my bonus boys:

  • Magnet tiles
  • All their mini dozers, excavators, rollers, and etc.
  • Small toy animals
  • Magnetic people (amazon)

Those are simply what I know my kids will play with the most, but you can also pack:

  • Coloring books
  • Building blocks
  • Bug catchers
  • Their favorite stuffy
  • Kitchen play toys
  • Coloring pads (the ones you draw and erase/amazon)

SNACKS

Avoid concession stand prices and pack your own satisfying treats. Let me tell you, this is perfect for everyone! The kids, your friends, your hubby, and yourself will be so happy to have snacks at their fingertips that don’t cost an arm and a leg! Here is what I pack:

  • Grapes
  • Bananas
  • Any fruit I have on hand really that wouldn’t be a huge disaster to clean up at the field lol
  • Mini bags of chips
  • Oreos (or some kind of snack cookie)
  • Lollipops
  • Granola bars
  • Trail mix
  • Apple sauce packs (in the squeeze bags)
  • Pretzels
  • Small bags of gummies

Here are some quick, easy, and heat-resistant recipes to keep everyone energized and happy.

Tropical Trail Mix

Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried pineapple, chopped
- 1 cup banana chips
- 1/2 cup coconut flakes, toasted
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 1/2 cup cashews

Instructions:
1. Toss all ingredients together in a large bowl.
2. Store in zip-lock bags for easy distribution during the game.

I know this sounds like a ton, but if you are able to, just pack up everything but drinks and food and keep that in the closet to pull out when it’s time to head to the field! It has been a dream for me and our crew! So don’t leave the kids at home! Use these opportunities to teach kids about the sport, sharing the rules and excitement of the game and be with others with no screen! It’s a great way to bond with each other and foster a love for sports, all while keeping them engaged in what’s happening on the field.

Armed with these tips and tricks, you’re set to enjoy the baseball season with less stress and more fun. Packing effectively can transform the game experience for you and your little ones, ensuring everyone comes home a winner.
