Did you hear the good news? Just last week, Salesforce was recognized as one of the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials by Fortune and Great Place to Work!
Scores are based on an anonymous survey of nearly 90,000 employees under age 35, administered by the workplace culture experts at Great Place to Work. Our position on the list is based entirely on our own employee feedback. We know how closely our employees’ experience impacts the success of our customers and our company, and are thrilled that our millennial employees see Salesforce as a great place to work.
Why focus on millennials? In just 10 years, millennials will make up 75 percent of the workforce. This unique generation of employees brings an incredible energy and fresh perspective to our company. As the SVP of Global Employee Success at Salesforce, I am committed to continuing to attract and retain this key demographic. Our team champions a culture that empowers millennial employees to do their very best work by focusing on three key areas.
Millennials are not alone in their desire to have a purpose and make an impact on their communities. We believe all Salesforce employees want to do well by doing good. Giving back is a core value we hold close to our hearts, driven by our integrated 1–1–1 philanthropic model: we donate 1% of our product, 1% of our equity, and 1% of our employees’ time to help improve the state of the world. That means every employee has six paid days every year to spend volunteering for causes that are meaningful for them, whether that means serving food at a local homeless shelter or rebuilding schools in Nicaragua. Salesforce’s Volunteer Time Off is one of our most unique and cherished benefits, and makes it truly possible for millennial employees to make a difference.
The millennial generation is one that never knew a world without mobile phones and social media. They are leading the charge when it comes to transforming the way the world connects through technology — a mission that aligns directly with our own. Salesforce’s social, mobile, and data science technologies are at the forefront of the industry; Forbes has named Salesforce the World’s Most Innovative Company four years running. Here, we know great ideas can come from anyone at any level, and we value our employees’ opinions, feedback, and solutions to help us stay competitive and deliver success for our customers. At Salesforce, millennials can make an impactful contribution to the future of technology.
We know that millennials typically crave challenges, pursue meaningful work, and are open to change when it comes to developing their careers. The tremendous growth we are experiencing at Salesforce makes this the perfect place for employees to explore opportunities and grow professionally. We encourage career growth both vertically and horizontally across teams and departments; in fact, many of our best executives have held roles in several different organizations. Salesforce offers job shadowing, mentorship programs, talent development courses, and much more. We encourage our employees to try new roles, discover new skills, and experience new areas of the business without ever having to leave the Salesforce family.
Being named a Best Workplace for Millennials is an amazing testament to our corporate culture, employee engagement, and company commitment to attracting, retaining, and growing the millennial population at Salesforce. I’d like to send a big thank you to our employees…this spectacular group of individuals is the real reason Salesforce is a great place to work!
