Simplifying College Admissions process!

About a year ago I found out that only 40% of US High School graduates get a college degree. This was shocking to me. With college education more important than before, and studies showing that college graduates live a happier, and a healthier life, as well as earn over $1 million more than High School graduates over their lifetime, I wanted to figure out why so many High School students do not get a college degree and what can we do to support them.

On digging deeper, I realized that ~ 2 in 3 high school graduates do not even apply to college and of those that apply, only ~2 in 3 graduates from college. With a goal to make a dent in the first problem — have more students apply to colleges successfully — I started a company, SchoolWise (GoSchoolWise.com) with an amazing team, earlier this year (2016).

At SchoolWise, we strongly believe, we can make the college admissions process simpler for everyone and encourage more students to apply to college. There are over 2,300 accredited colleges in US. We are sure there is at least 1 college, which will be the right fit, meet the constraints/needs of 1/3 of high school students that do not apply to colleges. This belief is codified in our mission at SchoolWise, which is to Simplify College Admissions process.

To accomplish our mission, we are using data analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and admission expert advice. We want to use the technology as well as the expert resources available to make a difference!

One of the things I am most proud of is the cutting edge work we are doing at SchoolWise and putting data analytics and AI/ML to help High School students during their college admission journey. You can see an early version of AI/ML work we have done using IBM Watson on SchoolWise.

As we work towards our missions, one my personal goals is to post here periodically and share our progress at SchoolWise, state of EdTech/College Admissions, as well as my experiences as an entrepreneur.

Hope you will join us in our mission to Simplify College Admissions.
