Introduction

This paper starts with explaining SLAM problems and eventually solving each of them, as we see in the course of this article. Certain problems like depth error from a monocular camera, losing tracking because of aggressive camera motion & quite common problems like scale drift, and their solutions are explained pretty well. Let’s first dig into how this algorithm works.

A look at alternative algorithms to backpropagation

Since the idea of utilizing backpropagation for training neural networks was introduced in 1986, learning via neural networks has never looked back. Suddenly training networks became an efficient process which enabled magnanimous accomplishments to be achieved. It became an industry standard and many frameworks (Tensorflow, PyTorch) have been built on it, which are utilized by everyone. But gradually as we tried training bigger and deeper networks with it, some of its drawbacks came into focus. Mainly these were-

1. Vanishing Gradients: Sigmoid and tanh non-linearities tend to saturate and entirely stop learning. This…

Some time ago, I was surfing the Reddit and Machine Learning Subreddit when I found the mention of thebeautiful paper by Meng-Li Shih, Shih-Yang Su, Johannes Kopf and Jia-Bin Huang Titled “3D Photographyusing Context-aware Layered Depth Inpainting”. Here is the paper link.

Using the above model I was able to make the above photograph into an mp4 file that makes the image into a 3D photo and perform a dolly zoom.

A recount of DeepMind’s revolutionary Atari paper.

Introduction

In 2012, the Arcade Learning environment — a suite of 57 Atari 2600 games (dubbed Atari57) — was proposed as a benchmark set of tasks: these canonical Atari games pose a broad range of challenges for an agent to master. Achieving superhuman performance on these Atari games in 2015 was Deepmind’s rise to fame and was also an important milestone in the development of RL³. Recently Deepmind’s AlphaGo beat the greatest ‘human’ player of all time at Go which is a googol time more complex than chess. …

Learn how SLAM is paving way for Augmented Reality to excel in the coming times and becoming a game-changer for the Industry!

“Artificial intelligence will reach human levels by around 2029. Follow that out further to, say, 2045, we will have multiplied the intelligence, the human biological machine intelligence of our civilization a billion-fold.” ―Ray Kurzweil

In this epoch of technological advancement, Artificial Intelligence has obtained appreciation in a countless number of areas. I have been pondering to what extent has AI advanced in the healthcare sector, how far we are from reaching the stage where one can consult a robot doctor or a digital doctor for medical advice. …

Let us explore and attempt to get a feel for the new paper from Stanford researchers on using periodic activation functions for implicit representations. For people from traditional ML backgrounds, SIREN may demand a rethink of the conventions around handling data.

To prevent the mathematics from impeding our ability to understand the essence of this paper, we will start with an example and add details along the way.

A Robot and a Human playing Chess

“The field of Artificial Intelligence is set to conquer most of the human disciplines; from art and literature to commerce and sociology; from computational biology and decision analysis to games and puzzles.” ~Anand Krish

I still remember that when I was a child, I was fond of playing chess on my computer. I loved watching the grandmasters of this game compete. One day I watched a 2003 documentary film called Game Over: Kasparov and the Machine which was about an IBM Supercomputer called Deep Blue who defeated Garry Kasparov, the highest-rated…

Learn how AI is transforming the Music Industry and revolutionising your personal music streaming experience!

“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” — Albert Einstein

In this fast-paced world, Artificial Intelligence has penetrated almost every industry. But one sector we didn’t expect it to enter was the Music Industry. That’s right, and people have used Deep Learning to optimise and enhance various aspects in the field of music. These include Music Generation primarily, where companies are using AI to create, enhance and…

Artificial Intelligence has been gaining a lot of traction in recent years, with major industries enhancing their goods and services with its help. Voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant can tell you the outcome of the football match you weren’t able to watch last night by simply asking them. Recommender systems in Spotify help you expand your music library, and those of Amazon’s can predict which product you would buy next without you knowing it first-hand! AI has also enabled advancements in the field of robotics, healthcare, finance…
