The Spectacular In-person Drop

This week was seriously hectic and to be honest it was super tiring as well. This time I was given a task to perform an in-person drop to one of my field related organizations. And for that on Thursday, I reached the Geological Survey of Pakistan located near Expo center.

Now there was a bit of confusion in the beginning because before going there, I had sent an email informing them about my visit but I hadn’t received any reply. So hoping that they might let me in their office, I left to meet them at the office.

Now when I reached there, I only had my CV and cover letter at hand and I didn’t even have a name to whom i had to speak with. So after entering the main gate, the guard there asked my purpose for the visit and I told him that I wanted to meet the HR manager. But to my surprise, he told me that he was away on a trip to Islamabad. I was a bit disappointed because of that but I didn’t show that and instead him to let me talk to someone that might help me deliver my documents to the HR person.

And surprisingly while i was about to leave, the clerk from the same department came and asked me how can he help me and so he told me all about the procedure of how to apply. He told me that they usually take NTS aptitude test before inviting or facilitating candidates for interviews. And before leaving, I asked him to please deliver my documents to the respected HR person. It was difficult to be honest, going so straight forwardly towards an organization that you want to be working in. One thing that I would try to improve is ask more people about the procedures and ways to get to the HR because mostly they try to avoid peope that come to then for a job. They just want them to follow the given procedure.

Hope this was fun to read and please share your thoughts about this. Thank you for reading ☺️
