We All use Slack but Try this New Method of using Slack

Introduction

Yes, I said it “Your Secret Book” !…

I was always trying different tools to keep my thoughts and ideas organized into a digital book, but none of it gave me the feel of my secret book. And I just found this amazing way to organize, automate and do everything that I wanted. So how I did that, here is the simple way that I used to create my secret book by using some smart apps.

Slack

Everyone know what slack is and how it is already simplified the workflow of teams. By definition slack is “A messaging app for teams!”. But today we are going to use slack for more personal.

Step 1. Create a new team in slack and name it as “my secret book” or whatever as the name of your secret book.

Step 2. Now don’t invite anyone to this team. By default there will be two slack channels #general and #random , you can’t delete this channel but you can rename those to whatever name you like. And add more channels according to your need.

In my secret book, I have 11 channels,

Step 3. Create as many channels you want and connect some of those channels with IFTTT for some automation.

IFTTT

IFTTT lets you connect the apps and devices you use every day, such as Amazon Alexa, Facebook, Twitter, Slack, and more.

I used IFTTT on five of my channels, #do-pics, #growth-hacker, #product hunt, #read-later, #watch-later for some automation that I needed.

Do camera

DO Camera empowers you to create your own personalized camera with just a tap. Save time and share your experiences with Recipe that connect your camera to Slack.

I use Do camera on my phone to take photos on whiteboard drawings or anything that I want to refer later so that it will automatically send those pictures to my #do-pics channel in slack. I did this by just connecting Do Camera with #do-pics channel in my secret book with this IFTTT recipe.

GrowthHackers.com

GrowthHackers.com is one of my favourite website which gives high-quality trending articles on growth hacking, marketing channels, user acquisition, engagement, product launch and more.

GrowthHackers tweets in my secret book
Before I created my secret book, I was following growth hackers twitter handle and marked as favourite in twitter so that I didn’t miss any new updates from growth hackers. But there was a problem, because growth hackers tweet more than 50 times each day.
I just connected growth hackers twitter handle to my #growth-hacker channel by using this IFTTT recipe.

Product Hunt

Product Hunt is a curation of the best new products, every day. Discover the latest mobile apps, websites, and technology products that everyone’s talking about.

I just connected my product hunt account with slack channel in my secret book using this IFTTT recipe. So that whenever I upvote a product in product hunt will automatically save into my #product-hunt channel.

This is Cool right………. !!!!

Pocket

When you find something you want to view later, put it in Pocket. I have already installed a pocket chrome extension then I just connected pocket with two of my channels in The Secret Book. #read-later & #watch-later using this IFTTT recipe.

So whenever I found something good to read or watch but no time. Then I will just save it with a tag read-later or watch-later using pocket chrome extension and then it will automatically send to my secret book channels #read-later & #watch-later respectively. Now I can take a look at it later in my secret book.

Idea Bot

By integrating the idea bot with slack I can save my new ideas one by one in my #idea channel.

Stats Bot

Stats bot is a super amazing slack bot which can be integrated with google analytics, Mixpanel, and salesforce.

Why am using this in my secret book, because basically I am a growth hacker and I wanted to track all the performance of my websites right from the slack.

Conclusion

These are just a few things that can be integrated and added to the secret book now its your turn to make your own secret book and add some cool ideas and integrations to it.
