Now that the skies seem to be finally opening up somewhat (after nearly two years of travel restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic), people are looking to do something entirely different. While traditionally, many of those traveling would set out for a spa or a place to sit and do nothing, now that we have spent the best part of the last 24 months doing exactly that, it seems that words like ‘adventure’ and ‘excitement’ are at the forefront of people’s travel minds.

Now that the skies seem to be finally opening up.

One example of this is magic shows. Traveling magician Salman Behbehani — who has missed so much performing with the pandemic — believes that magic shows are becoming increasingly popular now.

“What I’ve noticed is twofold. First, people who like magic felt seriously amiss over the last two years in not being able to watch live in-person performances. Second, people who had never shown any interest in many things in the pre-pandemic era are starting to say ‘Hey! Life is short. What have I not experienced in my life that I could start enjoying now.?’ And that’s leading to an increase in popularity of magic show travel destinations.’

So in this article we take a look at a couple of the European options for magic show destination vacations in both France and Italy.

What better way to enjoy one’s newfound freedom than going to the city of romance, Paris? When US author Rachel Kapelke-Dale said, ‘It feels like Paris is full of so many adventures just waiting to be had,’ who knows what she had in mind. But the Magic Theatre Cafe at Le Double Fond offers just that. Not only is there great food on the menu, one can also be privy to a magic show. Taking in the outstanding views from the outdoor patio sipping the local Sauvignon Blanc helps make the entire experience more holistic. While the magic shows are in French, with a group the hosts at Double Fond will create a private showing with an English speaker (who probably has the best pokerface you’ve ever seen!).

If Italy has always been your dream though, fear not as there are magical adventures there too. Check out Cherasco’s The Museum of Magic. This converted kindergarten has become one of Italy’s most popular museum locations for Italy’s art of magic, boasting themed rooms, thousands of publications on magic and of course the theatre with its magic performances. If you’ve brought your kids on this vacation, they will just love walking through the rooms clad in fairytale settings where they can discover how illusionism started, how it works and what styles magicians have used historically and in modern times.

So take a break. Take a vacation. Enjoy an adventure and appreciate the privilege of being able to travel once again!
