The City vs You

I awaken at the darkest hour,
While the world around me sleeps.
I’m drawn to that moor afar,
So out beyond the door I leap.
I offer my arm and you reluctantly follow,
A little hesitant, but curious all the same.
The world awaits you,
The side you haven’t seen.
We are lost for directions,
So we follow the North Star.
Curiosity would get you into trouble you said,
I laughed and reminded you what lay ahead.
For a while, you forgot your troubles
We danced and sang and made friends who were kind,
The kids around us were blowing bubbles.
And we disappeared into one of our own.
The land you come from is laden with battles,
But often, you forget that your future has peace.
For the limited time, I could show you a glimpse of the universe,
And feel relief, when you without weariness can go back to sleep.
Love,
Saloni..
