Fantastic article. The constant guilt of our past history is indeed crippling us as a society and this has a lot to do with how our educational system has maligned the teaching of history. Now, there is nothing wrong with admitting to the stains on our past, but that does not mean we should deny the exceptional workings of our system. There appears to be no middle ground, it is either the selective history of patriotism or the denial of our amazing triumphs despite the bad that happened all along the way.
