Thankful for What?
EVERYONE loves Thanksgiving. I mean everyone. Whether you believe it or not, we all have something to be thankful for. This might sound corny, but my favorite part about Thanksgiving in my family is everyone getting together as one. I love my family. Each and every one of them.
Coming together feels like a reunion because we all have our own lives and, unfortunately, we don’t get to see each other all the time. One is at work, one is at school, one is at the gym, one is picking another up from soccer practice… it gets crazy. My family is not your average sized family. There are eight of us, that is not including any distant family. Having three brothers and two sisters is truly a blessing, and I always remember that on Thanksgiving.
Unlike other families, we never really have our distant family over for Thanksgiving. For one, there would be about 70 of us under one roof. I don’t think anyone in my family could handle that without going insane. For another, my family has a special bond. Yeah, we fight, but at the end of the day, we can always laugh about it or just get over it because we couldn’t hold grudges toward each other. We love each other too much.
Sitting around our long dining table filled with a very large assortment of common Thanksgiving eats is a great feeling. We don’t hold back, we just dive right in. That’s why I love my family and Thanksgiving. It helps me realize how great the people I am surrounded by are and how grateful I truly am to have them.
