Not so Essential phone
Maxim Leonovich

My Nexus 6p started losing battery after almost 2 years of use. It would go to 20–30% and then abruptly turn off. Searches confirmed that there is something amiss with the batteries in these phones, especially after the 7.1 updates. I worked with Google and without much trying, they RMA’d me a replacement phone. The “new” one is terrific, and I’m back to going a full day and not having to tote a battery around with me at all times. Kudos to Google for their customer support. I know this is not the point of your article, but just wanted to let you know.

I’m planning on keeping the 6p for another year hopefully.
