Lovingly Hating Yourself

Today I learned a lot about revising from editing someone else’s work to seeing someone else’s edits on my work.

I really started to see that I can be redundant when I write. There’s a lot that can be taken out without taking away from the story I’m telling. It’s something I can look for more in future pieces that I write though which will be good for me!

Also a part of the TopHat lesson stuck with me today as I was reading the edits my classmate did to my martian piece. I really started to see the idea that even though something seems good when you first write it you will probably want to change everything when you look at it again.

I liked my martian piece, but after reading the edit suggestions I saw a lot that I wanted to change. I took out a lot of repetitious information, and condensed more.

Overall, it was an extremely enlightening class!
