Welcome to the New Generation of Late Night!

Ok, let me ask you a real, honest, and serious, down to earth question. Is there a perfect recipe for the end to an extremely crappy and challenging week? Actually, how about I answer you with this? With Justin Timberlake himself, guesting on the final night of good buddy, Jimmy Fallon’s premiere week of The Tonight Show, I think it’s safe to say that there really is. That’s right, magic really does exist! In fact, it’s almost as if my luck had suddenly and miraculously changed for the better, something of which, I hadn’t experienced in a really long time. Needless to say, it was a more than welcomed sign! And if that weren’t enough, I had watched a new, exciting era officially begin, right before my eyes! Bringing longtime house band, The Roots, and best buddy, and show sidekick, Steve Higgins along for the ride, there is no better equation, for what I believe to be, an even bigger debut.

With the handing over of the baton, ‘per se,’ from one legend to two lesser legends, at least in their own rights, a younger generation officially took over the reigns of late night, with absolute perfection and ease. And of course, leave it to the pros to cure my down and out bout, with what could possibly be the biggest grin and bout of laughs, that anyone has ever seen or heard! With that, I have absolutely nothing more to say, but bravo, gentlemen, as the continuous and long, high-pitched screams, and the “History of Rap — Part V” were beyond my wildest expectations! I thank you for that!

On a personal note however, with the toned down acoustic performance of “Not A Bad Thing,” my week couldn’t have ended any better. I don’t know what it is about Timberlake’s latest single, but it continues to increase my confidence day by day, along with my own personal connection to an incredible human being, who is an even better role model, one whom I am still incredibly proud to look up to, since the very first days of NSYNC. And for the record, I would say I’m sorry, but I’m really not. Oh snap! How do ya like me now?

As a big fan of both Fallon and Timberlake, I applaud NBC for a job well done, scheduling what is in my opinion, the best guest, even topping Will Smith, First Lady, Michelle Obama, Tim McGraw, Emma Thompson, Bradley Cooper, and Will Ferrell. I know, I went there. Please don’t hate me. Though I thoroughly enjoyed their segments on the show, including “Ew,” and “Charades,” Timberlake clearly took it home, with his full on ‘bromance’ with Fallon, proving it to be stronger than ever before!

On tap for next week are my personal favorites, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Adam Sandler, Paul Rudd, Shaun White, Sara Bareilles, and Dierks Bentley. Uh oh, it looks like Seth Meyers has some big shoes to fill. Bam! Your move, Meyers! Amy Poehler and Fred Armisen, who?
