Why Bored? Read a book, take a stroll, kick a friend
Sometimes in hindsight, I wonder, if only for the briefest moments, whether I should hold out on frequently doling out advice to my dear little sister, in lieu of brevity. One tends to lose one’s audience, brilliant as the pearls of wisdom may be, to the diluting effects of frequency. A common mind, as they say, can only take so much, and my pretty little sibling who possesses several talents, has, unfortunately, exactly such a mind.
Stepping aside from genetic anomalies, I am afraid advice does come in the bucket loads. From teachers, parents, celebrities, technocrats, professors of one thing or the other, and, now that I think about it, annoying half-assed know-it-all brothers. An impressionable soul is bombarded with advice from every quarter: from Facebook, Twitter, and speeches of this, and addressal of that. Elon Musk wants you to believe in yourself, Bill Gates wants you to question yourself, Jay-Z wants to be who you are, and Richard Branson wants you to change yourself constantly. Most of the time, it’s already too late, and if you don’t act now you will never ever ever achieve anything of note.
So wake up at 5:30 a.m., keep one journal for happiness and another for gratitude, make a list of what you want to be, your plan for 5 years, and 10 years and 25 years and for the post-apocalyptic world. Have it ready, or better yet, have it tattooed on your body. All this while you exercise, brush your teeth (twice), and drink herbal, aloe vera, chamomile tea with honey and just to be safe, another cup without honey. And if you weren’t facing East the whole time why do you even bother? You only have to stop to look at any airport book store (if they still have any left) or a Sunday newspaper (if you still get one). It’s almost like the entire human race is hoarding advice all the time.
So take advice, but also don’t! Remind how simply the Beatles put it?
Everybody seems to think I’m lazy I don’t mind, I think they’re crazy Running everywhere at such a speed Till they find there’s no need ~Only Sleeping, Beatles (John Lennon)
He is so poetic, is he not? at least in lyrics, he writes not alluding to drug use? Can’t make Ed Sheeran say stuff like this, can you? Wait!, I’m doing it again. By all means, enjoy Mr. Sheeran’s music, if it works for you, go ahead, sway to the exciting dance number, as he describes the shape of something, I can’t quite recall at this moment.
Happy week readers!
