In the year 1939, the lamentation of World War II was still around. The Jews were in the most helpless role at that moment. At that time, Hilda Geiringer, a Jewish woman, fled to New York with her daughter Magda to escape the Nazi forces. Born in Vienna, this Jewish woman wandered around Europe for six years, searching for survival. First Turkey, then Lisbon. There she escaped capture in a Nazi camp. Then leaving Europe for the United States opens a new chapter for Hilda.

Hilda Geiringer was the first female lecturer in applied mathematics in history. But not only applied mathematics, but the scope of Hilda’s acquaintance was also much more comprehensive.
