History of the Maurya Empire

Alexander the Great, the conqueror of Greece, had the ambition to conquer every part of the world. Ancient India was huge in size, wealth was not lacking. So, like everyone else, Alexander had his sights set on this land.

However, his reign in the gray soil of India did not last long. Chandragupta Maurya took advantage of that opportunity after he left India. Raised an army, defeated the Nanda dynasty. Thus, Chandragupta Maurya founded the Maurya dynasty in the Iron Age. From 322 BC to 185 BC, a large part of eastern and western India was under his rule.

The Mauryan empire was centered around Magadha, located in the Indus-Gangetic plain in the eastern part of ancient India. Patliputra was its capital.
