Jules Gabriel Verne, known as Jules Verne, was born on February 8, 1827, in the French port city of Nantes. He’s called the Father of Modern Science Fiction. He spent his childhood studying in a local school. His father was Pierre Verne, an attorney originally from Provins, and his mother was Sophie Allotte de La Fuÿe. They spent their summers in the town of Bray near Nantes. There, Verne and his brother Paul often rented a boat for a day with a franc. According to Verne, the sight of a large number of ships sailing on the river sparked his imagination.
Since he lived in the port city, the occasional arrival of the ship was counted at his fingertips. With the dream of becoming a sailor, he also planned to run away from home at the age of 12.
