I stopped some bad shopping habits last fall by going cold turkey: No more shopping for fun or stress relief, including no more pinterest/instagram/tumblr/whatever media made me want things. I’ve since replaced my shopping with behaviors that are free and also more constructive (walks! play music! play with the dog!).

It’s an extreme option, but scaling back never stuck for me. I needed to cut it out completely. 6 months strong!
