A few points that I would add, which are pros/cons for both filesystems:

ZFS requires much more RAM to work effectively (I’d do at least 1GB/TB, possibly 2GB). Additionally, expanding a vdev is a difficult process on ZFS, whereas Storage Spaces (I’m assuming any non-commercial use probably involves Storage Spaces) can expand based on any combination of drives you throw at it.

However, ZFS RAID-Z (stripe, parity) has FAR better performance than Storage Spaces’ Parity config.
