Why I’ll always use Firefox and not Google Chrome
I’ve starting surfing on the internet since windows 95, at that time we hadn’t the choice, there was only one browser : Internet Explorer. Then I adopted Maxthon, a free browser who uses the IE engine but offers tabs, that was soo cool. I’ve adopted Firefox since version 3. All my bookmarks and passwords was stored and it was very simple when I move my work on an new computer. In version 30 Firefox was very buggy : too much RAM and CPU, very slow to start and, slow browsing … so I’v moved to Google Chrome.

Everything was very simple due to Chrome import tool, but after some weeks I found many problems :
- I can’t use CTRL+TAB to switch between tabs !
- There is no master password to protect my stored passwords !
- I can’t export my stored passwords in a XML file

The last point was very important : Firefox always lets you leave at any time, but Chrome seems to look for forcing you to stay for the rest of your life : “If you want to export your private data, do it on the google’s cloud” … no thanks I don’t trust you and don’t want to save my private data on your server ! I don’t like to feel chained to a specific browser, so I moved again to Firefox.
Two years ago I decided to move to Ubuntu (I hope i’ll find the time to write on it), I don’t remember the Firefox version, but it was too slow to start and needed too much RAM, so I decided to get Chrome another chance and I was wrong : when I want to login to any website using stored password, Chrome hangs for 10 seconds to find the good password, after some exchanges on StackOverflow I discovered Chrome have a big issue with large amount of stored password and they are working on it ! So I came back again to my lovely Firefox and I’ll never quit it again :)
Now i’m using Firefox 54 on ubuntu 16 on a i7 laptop with 4 GB of RAM, I always have at least 12 tabs opened, Firefox uses almost 1GB of RAM, sometimes it goes to 1.5 but it depends on tabs number and site complexity, and this problem will be fixed in the next version, a crazy guy did some tests with 1691 tabs and all things went alright : https://goo.gl/Fpc3UF
