A nail is a horn-like keratinous envelope covering the tips of the fingers and toes in most primates. Similarly, nails are made up of a protein called alpha-keratin.

Now, as you all may have noticed a question mark above,

Do Human nails grow after death..?

In fact, that is not true. Human nails do not grow after death, neither yours will grow nor mine after our death. However, many grandmas itch this story to their beloved sons, to be precise, to their grander ones. So, this is the time you have to quit the grandma’s school of stories and change the party, as the foretold story is just a myth.

Well, Human nails do not grow after death!

So, to unfold the truth, it requires a minute scientific explanation.

After Death

After death, the human body dehydrates which causes the body skin to shrinks and the body seems to be squashed, squeezed and pale. Likewise, the shrinking of the body skins creates an optical illusion among the people as nails seem longer as if those continued to grow. So, the main theme behind the myth is that the skin around the nails get retracted and the nails seem longer.

So, do Human nails grow after death..?

Obviously, a big no. It ends that the fact that ‘fingernails grow after death’ is, in fact, a grandma story and ultimately a myth.
