I think your point about prevention coming from the medical system and not just as the responsibility of individual patients is especially critical. That “individual responsibility” focus seems to be the overall trend in the US, and yet it is misleading to place the onus on individuals, As we know from public health, there are many things beyond an individual’s control, like air and water quality, the nutritional content of processed foods (especially ones served in schools and other institutions), and hospital-acquired infections.
