I went to the airport with my friend last year (It was the November holidays. We were bored. We were teenagers. We’re in Singapore. The airport would be an obvious choice) and as soon as I stepped into the place, I felt this inexplicable sadness rush over me. I remember looking down on all of these people rushing to get somewhere. Everyone had a destination. I wondered why, then, I felt so lost. I wanted to capture all of that melancholy in a picture, hence the black and white filter (yes this is from my Instagram). I wanted to translate the essence of this photo into my personal essay: this feeling of arbitrary loneliness in a place like the airport.
