Crumb Fried Prawns

INGREDIENTS

250gms prawns, de-veined and washed

1Tsp Chilly powder

1Tsp Turmeric powder

1Tsp Cumin powder

1Tsp Coriander powder

1 1/2Tsp Salt

8-10Tsp of flour/maida

Cold water, as required

2-3 ice cubes

Fine Bread crumbs, as required

Oil as required

METHOD

In a bowl add the prawns and add in the salt, turmeric, chilly, cumin and coriander and mix well, keep aside for 5-8 minutes.

Place some bread crumbs in a flat plate.

In a separate bowl, add in the flour, ice water and ice cubes and make a thick paste, make sure you don’t make it too watery because then the crumbs won’t stick to the prawns. Add the remaining half a teaspoon of salt to the batter.

Once the batter is ready, turn on the gas and place a non stick pan on a medium flame, add in some oil and spread it evenly on the pan.

Now, take a single prawn and dip it in the batter, then roll it in the bread crumbs till covered completely and place it on the pan, do this for each one and then fry them till golden brown, flipping them a few times and add oil as and when required, you can cover the pan for a minute or two so the prawns cook faster.

Enjoy with a nice chilled beer.

Tips:

1.You can deep fry these if you feel like.

2. Serve with tomato sauce/tartar sauce on the side.
