I’m Done Pretending SF Tech Is Visionary

Great article. I just finished a 5 month period of job hunting and can relate to this first hand. As a marketer, I was interviewing with a diverse set of companies and a good chunk of the tech companies were exactly what you described. I’d go through a few phone interviews and even meet in person to understand how these CEO/CMO’s were “disrupting the industry,” but all I’d see when I went home to work on my homework assignment ( usually how I would position that said product in the market) was a product that already existed, just different packaging. It was quite disappointing, because the teams are always awesome and you want to work with the people, but the actual product is completely unnecessary. It’s time to start putting money into things that could change the world for the better.

Thanks for sharing Marco!
