This is no longer true. You can now install Arch on a Swift 3 out-of-the box without any hassles, standard kernel works fine. Make sure you update your BIOS firmware before you remove Windows.

I did a reformat and re-install recently and everything is working perfectly with linux-zen kernel except the fingerprint scanner. I think even that will be sorted out in time.

It was a case of the the Linux community needing some extra time to support the platform.

Overall I’m happy with Linux on my Swift now and I would recommend a Arch-based distro like Manjaro for anyone who wants to try it out.
