Building Emotional Resilience and Flexibility

Astronauts have this experience they call “The Overview Effect.” A shift in awareness when viewing the Earth from Lunar Space aka way the F up there. Described as a “First-hand Reality” or “Hanging in the Void.”

After, they talk about coming back with clarity on human connection, a changed perspective on life and its much deeper purpose.

Sweet Sam, they are fucking circling the earth after riding the coolest ride known to man, viewing possibly the most beautiful view, gently hugged by a white suit that would get you into any party, not to mention one of the coolest parts rockets strapped to your back and a button (second only to lasers attached to your heads). What does this mean to me, I tear up when I see a baby hug a puppy on the internet?

Emotional resilience and flexibility requires a number of things. The strategy that has worked well for me to start is pull myself out of the feelings and letting them run my show.

Not: I AM SAD

Instead: I FEEL SAD

This removes the emotion from your current state. You are not defined by your feelings. So how does that relate to the astronauts. They were so far away from the BS down and took a removed, honest look at things.

This has helped me control my emotions and remove myself from ownership of these thoughts taking me down town. These things are happening but they will pass and they do not define you. You are fluid, you are a collector of experiences.

Be an astronaut out there, I tell ya its a hilarious costume for Halloween. And if there is one thing that I know, it is Halloween. My friends are some of the most advanced researchers in Halloween and they told me I know the most about Halloween.
