6. Press. Great if you can get it, but typically media will not be interested in you before you have an initial success story. Fortunately, Slashgear knew us from last year, and Robert Scoble also posted a video. Their influence was key in getting the campaign off the ground. We did send out a press release and there was some targeted press follow up, but it didn’t drive traffic like Slashgear or Scoble. After a while, the press occurred on its own. Press, like backers, are attracted to success.
