Assignment 1: Brochure & Reflection

Coming to a New Country

The lesson will begin with an overview of the semester, how many assignments, how much each is worth, how there assessed, etc. Then an explanation of the first assignment and how this ties into the film the class will watch today. The film Babakiueria, a mockumentary which reverses the roles of the ‘founding’ of Australia, will act as a visual text and talking points. The film will be paused at intervals to discuss: how it scaffolds the main assignment, ‘issues of relevance’ and the purpose of the text.
