Thanks! I’m not familiar — should I be?
Yes — and that’s what can make organization transformation work so difficult. Many leaders have grown up in schools, families, and organizations that have valued control over trust. It’s hard to get folks to experiment with new ways of thinking about their fellow humans.
Totally admire the self-reflection and honesty here. You are always your own biggest critic. The title of the piece doesn’t capture the fact that overall the conference was experienced by the vast majority of the attendees as eminently worthwhile and extremely engaging.
If you haven’t read Carol Dweck’s book, “Mindset,” that’s the best place to start. She has some good talks as well (check out her TED talk as a starting point — Carol Dweck: The power of believing that you can improve — TED.com)
That’s a relatively recent change. Mostly a function of seeing the writing on the wall in terms of Twitter and 3rd party apps. They keep restricting access to new features that I wanted to check out. Tweetbot is still the better app but I’m forcing myself to get used to the official app.
