Incredibly calming. Almost all of those various potential sources of information are empty, but systematically checking them to make sure really helps me know that I have my arms around everything. It looks like a ton but I can generally get through the Collect phase in less than 10 minutes.

Yes — and that’s what can make organization transformation work so difficult. Many leaders have grown up in schools, families, and organizations that have valued control over trust. It’s hard to get folks to experiment with new ways of thinking about their fellow humans.
Totally admire the self-reflection and honesty here. You are always your own biggest critic. The title of the piece doesn’t capture the fact that overall the conference was experienced by the vast majority of the attendees as eminently worthwhile and extremely engaging.
