Peter Tosh :Down memory lane.

“He said all that glitters is not gold /Half that story ain’t never been told /So now you see the light,eh /To stand up for your right” co-written with Robert(Gong).

(excerpt from “ Get Up Stand Up”//Burnin” by The Wailers)

The 1973 confrontational album ‘Burnin’ yet a classic saw Winston Herbert ‘Peter Tosh’ McIntosh and Robert(Gong) both core members of the prodigious band ‘The Wailers’ gain legendary status with no stress, ‘the first to ever do it’ says a Jamaican native.

Reggae music took a different turn when the revolutionist first great solo album ‘Legalize it’ in 1976 took center stage during an era of black emancipation. Tagged “The new King of Reggae” during his reign but was quick to acknowledge the reggae icon ‘Robert Nesta Marley’ as the rightful and only King of Reggae ever lived.

The international rock band ‘The Rolling Stones’ recognized Peter as the powerhouse of reggae music having embarked on a journey as a solo artist after his exit from the ‘The Wailers’ band in 1971.Together with The Stones on tour, Tosh had an international hit with a duet with Mick Jagger(ranking member of The Rolling Stones) for the record (‘Dont look Back’).

His claim to fame was short lived yet chalked with success.Record ‘Johnny B Goode’ off the ‘Mama Africa’ album is a personal favorite with its punky reggae party vibe.

33 years on, the reggae legend is still not getting the recognition he deserved. October 19,1944 would forever be remembered, the day Peter was born and sadly September 11,1987 when he was assassinated at his residence.

Continue to rest in Zion King.❤️💛💚
