You’ve raised a really good point—that JS devs should be making sure they know what’s inside the packages they’re using, as matter of learning and self-improvement.

However I’m fairly certain that cars have a lot more than 291 parts, and an apple isn’t really a fair comparison. I would expect full featured frameworks such as Express or Babel to have a load of dependencies, that’s just a symptom of Javascript not being as fully-featured as a language like Ruby.

I mean, obviously—that tweet module does surprise me, makes you wonder how that even got in there…
