Three Poems

Then it happened
As it always does
You try to be different
You attempt to change

Then it happened
Break the cycle now
Is the advice you receive
Good help doesn’t exist

Then it happened
Another time, repeat repeat
Things will change next time
Lie to yourself again

Destruction looms but we ask
Keep danger at arm’s length
Take away damnation we beg
Let not the destitute thrive
…redeem humanity this day

Make the same mistake
Nine times a day
Maybe tomorrow will bring
Something other than despair
Mighty was the pen
Broken up into memories
Merit now is judged…
Will nothing make right
The wrongs of yesterday?
