Stop Asking Users What They Want
Eugen Eşanu

This makes perfect sense.

The very fact that the average human being spontaneously recents change, shows that if you ask them what they want, they’d tell you by one way or another that they want to be where they currently are. However we also know that people don’t desire what they already have, nor do they desire what they don’t know about. They always however desire what they do not have, that has been brought to their attention and which seems better than what they have. It means they cannot truly tell you if they want your product or improvement, since they don’t know what it is nor are they looking forward to “leaving their comfort zone”.

You are clearly better off using you intuition: give them a pleasant surprise everyone love a pleasant surprise, no matter what it is.
